Crime rate dips in Chelan, Douglas counties

"WENATCHEE - The crime rate has dipped to the lowest point this decade throughout Chelan and Douglas counties, according to 2007 data released today by the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs .

The data includes information about so-called index crimes reported to local police agencies, which then report the data to the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs.
Index crimes include murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault in the violent crime category.

Arson, burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft are included as property crimes."
